Model 82 Sequencing Mono Synth
The raw sound of the original hardware is the stuff of dance dreams. But the unique and inspiring sequencer and arpeggiator took it from a muted debut to full techno colour. Softube recreated every speck of the original circuitry, interactions, and straightforward workflow to give you the only plug-in with a sound, feel, and interface that stays true to the most-used mono synth of the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Model 82 Sequencing Mono Synth is in the house.
- A ’90s techno idol accurately emulated for faithful sound and feelings
- The authentically inspiring sequencer and arpeggiator of the up-all-night original
- Two versions included: the instrument and five modules for Modular
The Art of Rock & Roll Science
When it comes to creating equipment that enhances workflow and offers the most-supreme quality of sound, Softube’s reputation is rock solid and illustriously long. Softube’s partnerships with premium brands like Tube-Tech, Solid State Logic, Chandler Limited, Weiss Engineering, and Trident have traversed decades.
Softube constructed Model 82 Sequencing Mono Synth on this legacy of creativity, passion, and enthrallment with details. Because to create tools that innovate and elevate, you have to have heart, soul, and Rock & Roll Science.
Grab it and GO
The original has been called the sound of electronic music. And Softube’s Model 82 Sequencing Mono Synth embodies those iconic lead, bass, and arpeggiated sounds in plug-in perfection. Every circuit and interaction is modelled in glorious detail to preserve the proper interplay between sections and the unmistakable dry mono sound. It’s fun, sounds fantastic, and is still quick and easy to use – more so in fact.
More fun than most DAWs allow
The hardware put techno on a roll. And the sequencer and arpeggiator were the main reason. Devotees could let go of the keyboard and focus on wielding the oscillator, filters, and other controls. Softube Model 82 plugin provides the same performance and experimentation opportunities optimized for the DAW. And you don’t have to be a trained pianist to play it. Run the sections freely based on the Internal Clock/LFO speed or DAW synced them to 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, or 1/32. The outcome is the approachability and spontaneity that made the original a sleeper hit.
Operation defrag
Softube wouldn’t be Softube if they didn’t give you an accurate emulation, plus added modern features. Softube has kept the delightfully straightforward workflow but adjusted the labelling and layout so you can find the sound you want even faster. Softube gave Model 82 a new drive knob that lets you push it, just like they did in the heyday, even more readily. And a new doubling knob enables Model 82 to hold its own in modern stereo productions while retaining its sonic essence.
What’s Included
Model 82 Sequencing Mono Synth
This synthesizer gained infamy at the all-night dance parties of the late ’80s and early ’90s. The added modern features – like doubling and drive – and a refreshed layout help it excel in the DAW. Play it live or put it on a production to effortlessly get the cutting techno sounds that took it from commercial flop to underground success.

Tube Delay
A tasty echo effect that can go from clean to rude by overdriving its three modeled tube stages. Create anything from realistic room echoes to rockabilly style slap backs, or take it all the way into dub reggae echo madness.
A slightly dark and distorted delay has a way of giving a great sense of space and size to a mix without really drawing attention to itself. So that’s where Softube’s Tube Delay gets in the picture.
The controls are quite self explanatory, but it’s the sound that sets Tube Delay apart from any other delay you have tried. The drive knobs add a wonderfully dirty distortion and the tone controls are just sweet. There’s actually three different tube stages in this model, each adding to the total sound. The tone controls are passive and add further to the distortion. Turn up the feedback while running, and you’ll have the authentic dub echo madness! We of course added the possibility of tempo syncing the delay to your song.
Features:
- 1-1000 ms delay
- Sync tempo to host
- Vintage style passive EQ
- Gritty feedback feature
- Tube preamp simulation

Spring Reverb
Spring Reverb is an authentic spring reverb recreation that will add vintage character and grit to any audio track. It also includes novel features such as a fully automatable Shake control that will shake the virtual springs around for those thunderous spring effects. Get some recognizable character in your mix with the Spring Reverb!
When your mix lacks that certain something, Softube’s Spring Reverb may very well be it. A spring reverb is built into a lot of classic guitar amplifiers and is consequently often used for guitars. But you wouldn’t do it justice to think a reverb of this type was limited to guitars only. It can add a lot of personality and character to a vocal track, a snare drum, percussion, an electric organ or just about anything. It’s very much a sound of its own and it will help set your mix apart from the rest.
Plus, there’s not only one spring reverb sound. We included a few settings so you can choose which spring reverb character you’re after. The number of springs and their tension highly affects the sound and feel, so it’s up to you to determine what your track needs. There are also tube-driven Bass and Treble controls to further affect the sound. And if you want that explosive boom you’ll get from shaking a true spring reverb (making the springs bounce and slam into each other), we modeled that too.
Features:
- Personality and character for your mix
- Tension control to shape the spring character and reverb length
- Number of spring pairs continuously adjustable from 1 to 3
- Tube driver simulation with Bass and Treble in the reverb section
- Shake control that shakes the springs around
- Can be used both as a send and an insert effect
- Very CPU friendly

The Art of Rock & Roll Science
When it comes to creating equipment that improves workflow and offers the highest quality sound, Softube’s reputation is rock solid—and long. Their partnerships with premium brands like Marshall, Tube- Tech, Chandler Limited®, and Empirical Labs go back nearly twenty years.
Dirty Tape is built on this legacy of creativity, passion, and attention to detail. Because to create tools that innovate, you have to have heart, soul, and Rock & Roll Science.
Two Knobs Do The Job
With two knobs to regulate all the effects it produces, Dirty Tape makes it simple to add lo-fi, vintage vibes to your mix. The Dirt and Drive controls—based on the Dirt and Drive sections of Softube Tape Echoes—are precision-tuned to dial in the ideal amount of the intended effect. From retro distortion, saturation, and degradation to tape speed variations like pitch modulation, crosstalk, and stereo imbalance to flutter, dropouts, and wow. Dirty Tape delivers it all—with ease.
Calibrate a Custom Vibe
Set the Stereo Mode to Normal or use it De-coupled (dual mono) to have a greater effect on the balance of your stereo image. Adjust the Low Cut Filter to reduce low-end rumble and increase the lo-fi vibes. Dirty Tape’s parameters let you transform the character of a sound to your taste, from nuanced to in-your-face and every rendition in between.
Make Your Beat Pop
Programmed drum loop sounding too clean? Piano loop too hi-fi for your hip-hop vibe? All the components of your beat will sit right in your mix with the perfect amount of warm saturation from Dirty Tape. It lets you add movement, musicality, and a hip lo-fi mood to your beat-making process.

Softube plug-ins are not tested regularly in non-listed systems. They will likely work if the system requirements are met. However, the manufacturer cannot guarantee a solution for issues in unsupported systems.
Softube strongly recommend using VST3, as some of their plug-ins have features that are not present in the older VST format. Supported sample rates: 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, and 192 kHz, in both mono and stereo. The most recent maintenance release of your DAW application is recommended.
